Thanks! I've seen a lot of claims that younger generations are buying vinyl (and esp Beatles on vinyl), but I have yet to see any stats to back it up, and those would be very useful.
I’m most surprised by the growing popularity of cassettes, albeit representing a minuscule portion of the physical musical formats. I can understand the appeal of vinyl and to a lesser extent CDs, but I’m not sure I understand the appeal of cassettes
I hear you. From a sound quality perspective, I totally see your point. I guess some collectors find them quirky, inexpensive and practical (i.e. storage, easy to carry, etc.). I also think some see them as more retro than CDs.
For the retro element I get it. And they are quirky (in this day and age certainly). Will be interesting to see if the format continues to see growth or peters out.
That singles list is wild. Not only did the Beatles top it, but Sex Pistols have 3 spots on the list, and (more or less) broke up 45 years ago.
Thanks, Kevin! I know, right? And singles, on top of that! On vinyl! WTF! :)
Easy now, this is the Sex Pistols we are talking about....lol
This whole article makes me happy. And that single release chart makes me happiest of all. ❤️
Glad you enjoyed!! That also makes me happy! 😊
Do you have any age demographics on those vinyl statistics? That would be useful for marketing for a project that I'm working on.
I don’t unfortunately! But it would be interesting to get them. If I manage to get them I’ll let you know!

Great idea for a future post! Thanks!

Yes, exactly!
