Thank you for the kind words and happy birthday to The Vinyl Room! I'm so happy we've connected on here. Hard to believe it's been a year already. Time flies.
I want to double-click on this point: "I wanted to create a space for vinyl lovers with busy lives where we could all learn from each other without the typical snobbery of most record collector circles out there."
This was also something I was seeking (and found), and IMO, is one of #musicstack's superpowers.
Oh, I remember my first birthday! Feels like 50 posts ago….Though we are closer in newsletter age than human body age, our love of music and vinyl is timeless! Congrats and happy anniversary!
Happy Birthday Vinyl Room! Congratulations on a year of great content that always has something to teach me. I always appreciate your perspective and advice. Keep going!
I love you point about it. Not needing to be perfect. I've always had a fear of writing due to the fact that my writing style is less than perfect, and my use of punctuation would drive a 6th grader mad.
Congratulations on your one year Substack column birthday and success. Your writing advice and Michelle Richmond's are awesome and so practical whether for a vinyl record column, a short story, a novella or a novel. Your success will likely double or increase even much more in your second year and as will the things concerning vinyl records and music you want to write about. Thanks for the encouragement your example offers us to give our writing a go.
This is beautiful, Andres. Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so happy that Stephan put us in touch. You've created such a thoughtful, wonderful publication and community here. I love what you write!
For all of that in a year, you've done fantastic. It's easy to feel those moments of bewilderment at the fact you're doing this thing at all, and why and who for and what is it all worth in the big dumb, and hilarious and sad and lovely thing we named 'life', but that's also kind of the whole mystery about music anyway. And to do all of this with such support in your corner, is truly a testament to your belief in music and your writing. And that encourages folks like me, and your other readers—so yes, do keep it up. And congratulations.
Congratulations for this wonderful first year. I knew you would make it and also enjoy it. It is really wonderful to see how The Vinyl Room has been growing, and I am sure this is only the beginning. Thanks also for mentioning me in your posts :-) I will always be there to support you. Keep going - and don't overthink it!
¡Felicitaciones!
